Measure B:
Upgrades Needed
to Local High Schools
Tam High, Redwood, Archie Williams, San Andreas, and Tamiscal strive to provide every student with a high quality education in a safe and modern learning environment, so that they graduate with the skills and knowledge needed for success in college and future careers.
Measure B: Maintain Modern Facilities for Tam District Students
Tam High is over 100 years old, Redwood and Archie Williams are over 60 years old, and the last significant repairs and upgrades were completed almost 20 years ago.
Without state funding for improvements, local schools can’t maintain modern classrooms, labs, and technology. Dedicated local funding for facility upgrades could help TUHSD prepare students for college and careers and provide state-of-the-art educational facilities like other Marin County schools.
Our Schools
- Replacing outdated and obsolete classrooms, science labs, technology and equipment
- Repairing or replacing leaking and deteriorating roofs
- Repairing or replacing outdated and inefficient heating, cooling, electrical , and plumbing systems
- Updating career and job training classrooms to meet current educational standards
- Updating art, music, and performing arts classrooms
- Replacing outdated, deteriorating and failing temporary portable classrooms
“Despite providing a well-rounded public education, our schools need repairs. It has been almost 20 years since a dedicated funding source for improvements to our local high schools was approved and since that time, we have educated a generation of students, and our classrooms now show it!”
Superintendent Dr. Tara Taupier
“The need to repair our classrooms hasn’t gone away, and the longer we wait to address this need, the more expensive repairs will become. Many of our classrooms, labs, and schools are 60 to 100 years old and need updates to technology and infrastructure to help our students gain the skills to lead in a competitive world. I’m proud of the work we’ve done in partnership with our community to find a bond proposal that meets our critical needs while also addressing concerns from some voters.”
Board President Leslie Harlander
Tam District Facility Repairs and Upgrades
As you may be aware, Tamalpais Union High School District proposed Measure A on the March 5, 2024 ballot to fund repairs and improvements at Archie Williams, Redwood, Tam High, San Andreas, and Tamiscal high schools. Despite receiving a majority of votes, Measure A fell short of the 55% threshold required for passage.
After soliciting significant community input and feedback, the District prepared an updated and scaled-back plan (Measure B) to implement the following critical, urgent facilities improvements:
- Leaking roofs
- Deteriorating classrooms that must be replaced by State law
- Outdated plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical systems
- Inadequate classrooms and technology for science, engineering and math instruction
- Insufficient indoor space for students on rainy and smoky days
